Recruiting Process

"Respect, trust, and teamwork are the three fundamental values that helped start this company. They are the values that drive my leadership practices and management techniques. One of my primary objectives is to use these values to help Intertox support the building of relationships, fostering growth and change, and working toward agreed upon common goals."

Richard C. Pleus, Ph.D., Director

Our Culture

“I like to use a phrase often touted at Duke University—‘work hard, play hard.’ Staff are constantly advancing their knowledge of the field while producing excellent quality products for our clients. And for fun, a company happy hour at a local pub on Friday afternoon or a game of impromptu Frisbee in the office on Tuesday morning. It generally results in a pretty enjoyable work environment.”

Michael K. Peterson, M.E.M., D.A.B.T., Senior Scientist

It’s no surprise the culture at Intertox is linked directly to our success as a business. We have built a culture that clearly has people at the forefront, both clients and employees, in everything that we do. One aspect of our culture provides a rigorous, highly educated and scientific environment, working with high caliber clients on complex and challenging problems. On the flip side, our culture is also relaxed, informal, and fun. Our environment is small and open, where everyone has access to people, information, and the resources they need to be successful. In addition, lunchtime gatherings are frequent, frisbee throwing is a minor specialty, and social gatherings in and out of the office are common.

There are three fundamental values that were instrumental in building the business from the beginning—respect, trust, and teamwork. Today they are as critical to our success as ever. We solve our clients' complex problems everyday, and we do this by working as a team. We have attracted individuals from a variety of backgrounds, with different areas of expertise, strengths, and attributes. We foster an environment where we respect our individual differences as well as build trust and unity in working towards shared goals.
