About Us

Intertox is highly experienced in assessing the risk to humans exposed to chemical and biological agents via food, consumer products, therapeutic agents, the work place, and the environment. Intertox has been nationally recognized as a top authority on the toxicology of hazardous chemicals. The firm’s role as an objective, third-party scientific group has been illustrated with the issue of perchlorate when Intertox scientists designed, conducted, and implemented a groundbreaking human clinical study.

Intertox’s projects have ranged from committee participation in developing and planning a national level scientific symposium to assessing air quality in the vicinity of power plants, in residences, and on commercial airliners. The firm has assessed biological terrorist agents like anthrax and assessed potential exposures and risks of pesticides, aromatic hydrocarbons, chlorinated hydrocarbons, metals, and exotic chemicals. As experts in risk communication, Intertox’s scientists provide independent analyses to assist in communicating results.

Intertox’s scientists have worked with clients across the United States as well as countries like Japan, the Czech Republic, and South Africa. With a strong interest in the relationship between public policy and science, the firm works with clients from non-profit organizations, industry organizations, manufacturing corporations, law and consulting firms, and government agencies.

Philosophy and Mission

We live in a complex world. Chemical and biological agents have always been a part of it. Chemicals continue to be made or discovered and biological agents are being used in ever expanding applications. While these agents provide benefits to our lives, they present potential risks to our health. Our driving mission at Intertox is to integrate innovative strategic thinking and sound science to assess possible health effects from chemical and biological agents, and to enhance long-term public health.

There are many ways we achieve this mission, but all center on conducting independent, well-grounded, and rigorous scientific analyses. We use credible science as the basis of our work and opinions.

Caring, hard work, mutual respect, integrity, and trust are the fundamental values we strive for in governing the company and building our culture. These values drive leadership and management practices that guide our growth. Our talented team of scientists and staff continually work to sharpen these values as they provide the foundation of a strong team approach to solving complex problems.

Our team is comprised of individuals with different areas of expertise, strengths, and attributes. Intertox respects these individual differences in order to build trust and unity. Keeping focused on our fundamental values develops synergy among staff and helps support the building of relationships, fosters growth and change, and helps us move toward agreed upon common goals, which includes meeting the highest quality standards for our clients.
